Challenges launched on WAG in 7 themes
87% of French people feel concerned about the environment. The challenge for WWF France? Remove the 3 obstacles that prevent them from taking action:
1. “I don't know where to start”
2. “I want it to be easy”
3. “I don't want to feel alone”
To meet these expectations, WWF France has launched WAG (We Act for Good), a fun and personalized coaching app that makes it easy to find concrete ways to change your habits over time. BAM supported WWF on the Front side, with ReactNative and on the Back side with Node.js and GraphQL to launch the app in 3 months.
One of the technical challenges on WAG was to pragmatically implement a textual search engine in order to support the user in their search for eco-responsible recipes and tutorials. After comparing different solutions, the technical team opted for a solution that was quick to implement and efficient: the open-source full-text search solution with PostgreSQL.
To achieve its ambition, WAG must impact hundreds of thousands of French people. In order to quickly acquire users, WWF France launched a Beta version of the application in 3 months, drawing on BAM's expertise in React Native, which allows simultaneous deployment on iOS and Android with a single code base. To support WWF France in the official launch of the application, BAM carried out load tests and optimized server performance to support peaks of 3,000 users/minutes during large-scale media events (M6 television news, France Inter program).
To really transform the behavior of French people, WAG must become a habit, an app that we use on a daily basis. In order to meet this challenge, BAM and WWF France built WAG step by step, maximizing the learnings from each iteration:
1. Qualitative user interviews
2. Model tests
3. Beta release
4. Analytics
5. AB testing
6. Quizzes
React Native and the BAM agile method enabled us to quickly test our ideas. In just 4 months, we launched a first version with key functionalities on which we could iterate to refine them. The result: 6 months after the official launch, 350,000 downloads and a rating of 4.7 / 5 on the stores.
